Who was she?

Faith Ringgold was born in Harlem, New York on October 8, 1930. She was an art teacher in a Harlem elementary school while earning her master's degrees from City College of New York.

Ringgold’s art was inspired by African tradition of music, storytelling, dance, and clothing. She also was a feminist and anti-racist activist and expressed those feelings through her artwork.
